Owens Corning Shingle Roof Replacement in Spring Hill, FL
The Project
A Spring Hill homeowner needed about 25 squares replaced and had specific ideas about how the finished roof should look. She picked Owens Corning Oakridge in Estate Gray, a white drip edge, and black vents. Those choices sound cosmetic and they are, but a contractor who does not write them onto the order is the reason a homeowner ends up with mill finish galvanized vents sticking out of a gray roof.
Our Approach
The roof came off to the deck, decking was inspected and re nailed to code, and damaged sheets were replaced. Owens Corning RhinoRoof U20 synthetic underlayment went down in two layers across the field, which is the correct build for Florida rather than the single layer that is standard in most of the country. A granulated self adhered ice and water membrane was run in the vulnerable areas.
Owens Corning Starter Strip Plus was installed at the eaves and along the rakes, not just the eaves. That is the difference between a roof rated to shed a 130 mph gust at its most exposed edge and one that is not. The field was covered in Owens Corning Oakridge architectural shingles in Estate Gray and finished with Owens Corning ProEdge hip and ridge in the matching color. Drip edge went on in white and the goosenecks went on in black, exactly as she specified.
The work was permitted through Hernando County with a Notice of Commencement recorded before material was delivered, and the roof was installed on September 2, 2026.
The Outcome
A complete Owens Corning system, installed to the wind specification rather than the minimum, and finished in the colors the homeowner actually chose. Every quantity on this order was re derived from the home's own measurements twice before anything was purchased, which is how a job runs without a second delivery halfway through the day.
