Permits and inspections in Citrus County

Citrus County's Building Division in Lecanto permits unincorporated Citrus, which takes in Beverly Hills, Homosassa, Lecanto, Floral City, Citrus Springs, Sugarmill Woods and the town of Hernando. Inverness and Crystal River run their own building departments, and the county will not process a job inside either city. A county re-roof is an express permit that issues once the fee is paid, and inspections stay locked until the recorded Notice of Commencement is uploaded. Nobody comes out for a county re-roof inspection: the contractor uploads an in-progress and a final photo package showing every stage on every roof plane, with the permit number or address in each photo. A notarized affidavit on the sheathing, fasteners and roofing, and the manufacturer's installation documents, go up before the review. Inside Inverness an inspector comes out, at least twice, and the city's affidavit has to be signed by someone other than the roofer. The city inspects only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the contractor brings the ladder.
