Permits and inspections in Sumter County

Sumter County Building Services issues re-roof permits from the Villages Sumter County Service Center on Powell Road in Wildwood. The permit application is notarized, with the product approval numbers for the roof typed into it, and the permit issues after county review and payment. In The Villages, the Architectural Review Committee's approval is its own step, separate from the permit, and it goes up with the application. The recorded Notice of Commencement has to be posted at the house before the first inspection, beside the permit placard and visible from the street. Every Sumter inspection is in person; the decking and dry-in stages can be covered by the contractor's notarized affidavit, uploaded before the final. Inspections are booked the business day before, by phone by 4 p.m. or online by 7 p.m. Building Services also covers the Villages homes inside Leesburg city limits, under an agreement with the city.
